SSANU Threatens Action Over Salary Delays

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has raised concern over continued delays in salary payments to its members, warning that the situation could disrupt the current peace in universities.

In a letter to the Accountant General dated May 7, SSANU said university workers have been receiving their salaries weeks after other federal staff since moving to the GIFMIS platform. The union called it unfair and a breach of the 2022 agreement that ended their last strike.

SSANU President, Comrade Mohammed Haruna Ibrahim, said the delay is unacceptable and could be seen as punishment for their past industrial action.

The union urged the federal government to treat university workers fairly and warned that any further delay may force them to act.
