There was a slight pandemonium, Monday, as members of the senior staff association of Nigerian universities blocked the entrance to the gate of the university of Abuja, preventing the movement of people in and out of campus.
The members started a 7-day warning strike, same day, alongside the non-academic staff over what they call the federal government’s refusal to pay their withheld salaries over the course of 4 months.
The members are threatening a total shutdown of universities across the nation, saying essential services like laboratory facilities, clinics, water treatment plants, etc, will not be functional until their demands are met.
