Sowore Rejects Police Bail, Opts to Remain in Custody

Activist and former AAC presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has declined police bail conditions and chosen to remain in custody.

Sowore, who was summoned to the Force Intelligence Department (FID) in Abuja over allegations including resisting public officers and cyberstalking, revealed he was asked to submit his international passport and provide a Grade Level 17 officer as surety. Calling the conditions unreasonable, he tweeted, “I have opted to remain in detention until I am charged to court. This is just the impunity of the Nigerian Police.”

Supporters from the Take It Back Movement gathered outside Force Headquarters in protest, demanding his release and an end to police extortion. The standoff has sparked nationwide conversations on police practices and citizens’ rights.
