All schools in South Sudan have been reportedly ordered closed because of heatwave currently sweeping across the country. Temperatures are expected to rise up to 45 degrees Celsius and some “heat related deaths” have been recorded.

Authorities warn that these extreme temperatures could last up to 2 weeks and warned children and other vulnerable people to stay indoors.

The country is also witnessing power cuts which is blamed on the heatwaves making the condition all the more dire.

The ministry of education has not specified when schools will reopen again and is warning everyone to take necessary precautions to stay safe.
