The Senate has called on the Federal Ministry of Telecommunications and Digital Economy to address the recent spike in data prices.

This follows a motion by Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong (APC, Cross River South) after telecom operators raised tariffs by 50% with NCC approval.

Lawmakers expressed concern over the impact on businesses and daily life, urging the government to regulate price hikes and consider free internet hubs for youth.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio said these steps would support entrepreneurs who rely on affordable internet.
