The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has expelled former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, and banned him from all party activities for 30 years.

In a statement issued on Monday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Araba Aiyenigba, accused El-Rufai of impersonation, forgery, and attempting to destabilise the party.

The SDP said El-Rufai was never formally registered as a member and forged documents to make it appear he had joined. He reportedly declared membership online and posed for photos with suspended party members to back the claim.

The party also alleged that El-Rufai is working with another party—the African Democratic Congress (ADC)—without approval, violating SDP’s constitution.

INEC and other authorities have been notified of his expulsion and 30-year ban, which also prevents him from using the party’s name or logo in any form.

El-Rufai recently announced he had left the APC, citing a disconnect between his personal values and the party’s direction.
