Residents of Omagwa in Ikwerre LGA, Rivers State, barricaded the road to Port Harcourt International Airport after a police officer fatally shot their kinsman, Bright Chikuma Egbule, early Sunday.
Eyewitnesses say community members, outraged by the unexplained killing, first took the body to the police station before blocking the road in protest, severely disrupting traffic.
Locals warn that the protest could escalate if justice is not served, highlighting ongoing tensions with security forces in the area.
Meanwhile, SP Grace Iringe-Koko of the Rivers State Police Command confirmed that authorities are addressing the incident and that normalcy has been restored with increased security measures.
