The Rivers State House of Assembly has endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in the state, blaming Governor Siminalayi Fubara for the prolonged political crisis.
In a statement on Wednesday, Speaker Martin Amaewhule accused Fubara of “despotic and tyrannical actions,” citing court rulings against him and his obstruction of the legislative arm.
The Assembly assured residents of its commitment to stability and urged them to remain calm as retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas takes over as the sole administrator.
