Rivers APC Chairman Tony Okocha has called on Governor Siminalayi Fubara to resign or face impeachment, accusing him of undermining the rule of law.
At a press briefing in Port Harcourt, Okocha dismissed Fubara’s invitation to lawmakers loyal to former Governor Nyesom Wike as a “Greek gift”, saying it was insincere.
Fubara had invited the 27 lawmakers for talks after they gave him a 48-hour ultimatum to present the 2025 budget. The lawmakers had also demanded the removal of unscreened commissioners and board members.
Okocha insisted the Supreme Court’s recent judgment was final and urged the State Assembly to commence impeachment proceedings if the governor refuses to step down.
