The House of Representatives has called on the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to direct internet service providers to block access to pornographic websites in the country.

The motion, moved by Rep. Dalhatu Tafoki (APC-Katsina) on Tuesday, cited concerns over the negative social and psychological effects of pornography. Tafoki argued that Nigeria’s major religions forbid nudity and obscenity, and other countries have taken steps to ban such content.

Following the resolution, the House urged the NCC to enforce relevant laws, while Speaker Tajudeen Abbas directed the Committees on Communications and Legislative Compliance to oversee implementation.
