Reps Reject Bill on Rotational Presidency

The House of Representatives has rejected a bill seeking to rotate the presidency and vice presidency among Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.

The bill, sponsored by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, was debated during Tuesday’s plenary.

While supporters said it would promote fairness and inclusion, most lawmakers argued it could fuel ethnic division and limit democratic choices.

After a heated debate, the majority voted against it.
