The House of Representatives on Tuesday corrected errors in the N54.99 trillion 2025 budget, making adjustments to recurrent and capital expenditure figures while maintaining the overall budget size.

The corrections followed a motion of rescission moved by Francis Waive, Chairman of the House Committee on Rules and Business. He explained that the Joint Committee on Appropriations discovered allocation errors during the final review of the budget, prompting the need for amendments.

Key adjustments include:

  • Recurrent (Non-Debt) Expenditure increased from N13.06 trillion to N13.59 trillion
  • Capital Expenditure reduced from N23.96 trillion to N23.44 trillion

Despite these changes, statutory transfers remain at N3.64 trillion, while debt servicing stands at N14.32 trillion.

The adjusted budget was presented by House Leader Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, committed to the Committee of Supply, and subsequently passed.
