Religious leaders in Nigeria have called for psychiatric and narcotic testing for individuals promoting extremism under the guise of religion, as part of efforts to strengthen national unity and peaceful coexistence.

The call comes as Muslims and Christians observe the holy periods of Ramadan and Lent simultaneously an occurrence described by stakeholders as a symbol of shared values and unity.
