Russian President Vladimir Putin has condemned the recent US airstrikes on Iran, calling them unjustified. Speaking in Moscow on Monday during a visit by Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, Putin said Russia stands by the Iranian people and is ready to support efforts to ease tensions.
Araqchi thanked Russia for backing Iran and described Tehran’s response as self-defense. The Kremlin also expressed concern about possible damage to Iran’s nuclear sites and said any support would depend on what Iran needs.
The strikes, which targeted key nuclear facilities in Natanz, Fordow and Isfahan, have drawn international criticism, with Russia warning of heightened instability in the region.
