Despite police warnings, protesters under the Take It Back Movement marched through parts of Abuja, Lagos, and Port Harcourt on Monday.

In Abuja, activist Omoyele Sowore and lawyer Deji Adeyanju led the march, resisting efforts by police to stop them. In Lagos, demonstrators held placards in Ikeja, while in Port Harcourt, protesters were dispersed with teargas before they could begin.

The protests coincided with National Police Day, prompting the police to label them “ill-timed” and “mischievous.” Force PRO Olumuyiwa Adejobi said holding a protest on a day meant to honour the police was an attempt to tarnish the Force’s image.

The group said the protest was aimed at challenging President Tinubu’s alleged authoritarianism, rights violations, and misuse of the Cybercrime Act.
