Tension flared at the Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday as workers protested alleged plans to remove Speaker Mojisola Meranda. Security forces, including DSS agents, sealed off Meranda’s office, sparking clashes with legislative workers.

This unrest follows the January 13 removal of Mudashiru Obasa, who was ousted over corruption allegations. Obasa is challenging his removal in court. Sources suggest Meranda may resign following President Bola Tinubu’s intervention, which could pave the way for Obasa’s return.

Amidst the turmoil, workers chanted in support of Meranda, while lawmakers were reportedly directed to apologize to Tinubu for not consulting the party before Obasa’s ousting.
