A power surge in Gombe has claimed the lives of a Permanent Secretary and four others in Tudun Wada Pantami area.
The Permanent Secretary, Muhammad Yusuf Kulani, died while opening his gate early Saturday. His daughter survived and is hospitalised.
Police confirmed five deaths and 13 injuries. Governor Inuwa Yahaya mourned the incident, describing it as a huge loss to the state.
An investigation into the transformer fault behind the surge is underway.
