Police Shoot Two During FCT Demolition Protest

Two FCT natives, Sunday Danjuma and Jacob Audu, were shot on Monday during a protest against house demolitions in Karsana, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).

Community chairman Zakari Baba said police opened fire when displaced residents tried to enter the village to collect their belongings. Both men are receiving treatment at Gwagwa Health Centre.

Hon. Musa Dikko of the Public Complaints Commission confirmed the incident and said the developer responsible for the demolition has been summoned.

Efforts to reach FCT police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh were unsuccessful.

AMAC chairman Christopher Zakka Maikalangu had earlier condemned the demolition, which affected even the chief’s palace, and vowed to take legal action.
