The Katsina State Police Command successfully foiled two kidnapping attempts by suspected terrorists, rescuing 20 passengers in separate incidents in Jibia and Faskari local government areas.
According to a statement by police spokesperson Abubakar Aliyu, the first attack occurred at Kwanar Makera on the Katsina-Magamar Jibia road, where armed terrorists targeted a commercial vehicle. Police swiftly engaged the assailants in a gunfight, forcing them to flee with gunshot wounds, and safely rescued all 10 passengers.
In the second incident, at Marabar Bangori along the Funtua-Gusau road, another 10 passengers were rescued after police overpowered terrorists ambushing their vehicle. Both operations underscore the police’s commitment to combating insecurity in the region.
