The Nigerian Police Force has arrested a criminal network accused of supplying motorcycles to Boko Haram and other armed groups operating in Niger and Kaduna states.
Assistant Inspector General of Police Benneth Igweh, while addressing journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, said detectives acting on intelligence apprehended three suspects in Suleja, Niger State. The suspects—Shamsuddeen Yunusa (30), Zaharadeen Saidu (25), and Mustapha Haruna (22)—allegedly modified and resold stolen motorcycles to criminals.
A total of 22 motorcycles, stolen phones, and multiple master keys were recovered from them. According to Igweh, the syndicate sells motorcycles for ₦200,000 to ₦250,000, often receiving payments from buyers linked to terrorist activities in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State.
Investigations revealed that Shamsuddeen handled sales, Zaharadeen transported the bikes, and Mustapha repaired them before delivery. The police have intensified efforts to track down other collaborators involved in the operation.
