Pirates have abducted four women on the Lobia-Foropa waterways in Bayelsa State. The attack occurred on Tuesday after the boat left Yenagoa’s Swali waterfront. The assailants robbed about 12 passengers before taking the women into the bush.

Southern Ijaw lawmaker Hon. Selekaye Victor-Ben condemned the attack, calling it a direct threat to peace and the local economy. He said, “It is not only an affront to our shared humanity but also a grave threat to the peace and economic well-being of our constituency and the entire state.”

He urged the Bayelsa State Government and relevant security agencies to act swiftly, ensuring the safe return of the victims and enhancing surveillance on the waterways to prevent future attacks.
