Former NFF president, Amaju Pinnick, has lost his bid to remain on the FIFA Council after falling short in the CAF elections held in Cairo.

Pinnick secured 28 votes, just one vote behind Djibouti’s Souleiman Hassan Waberi, who claimed the final spot. Morocco’s Fouzi Lekjaa led the polls with 49 votes, followed by Hani Abou Rida, Djibrilla Hima Hamidou, and Ahmed Yahya.

With this outcome, Pinnick exits the FIFA Council after serving since 2021, marking a shift in Africa’s football leadership.
