Former vice president of the United States, Mike Pence, has said he would not endorse his former boss, Donald Trump, for president this year.

Pence who served alongside Trump for four years as vice president and was also his running mate in 2020 said he cannot “in good conscience” endorse Trump for another term.

Pence and Trump appeared to have a good working relationship and Pence was described the former president as his “friend” but things turned sour between the two after the 2020 election they lost which Trump is yet to accept.

Pence said “It should come as no surprise that I will not be endorsing Donald Trump this year, I’m incredibly proud of the record of our administration, but that being said, during my presidential campaign, I made it clear there were profound differences between me and President Trump on a range of issues. And not just our differences on our constitutional duties that I exercised on Jan. 6.”

Pence contested in the primaries against Trump and several others but his campaign never really took off and he eventually dropped out.
