PDP Wins All Council Elections in Adamawa, Delta.

The first local government elections since the landmark autonomy judgement by the supreme court has been held in Adamawa and Delta states. The ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in both states won all the chairmanship and councillorship seats save one (Demsa Ward of the Demsa Local Government Area) in Adamawa that was taken by the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) and a ward in Oshimili South local government area of Delta state won by the Allied People’s Movement (APM).

The Chairman of the state Electoral Commission in Adamawa state, Mohammed Umar, announcing the results at the state capital, said the ruling party won overwhelmingly in all the 21 local government councils of the state.

The winners are Akham Jaloh (Demsa), Shuaibu Babas (Fufore), Farouk Mohammed (Ganye), Adamu Umaru Dala (Girei) and Mark Ishaya (Gombi).

Others are Guyuk – Barr. Kassah D. Shalom Gobi, Hong – Inuwa Usman, Jada – Salihu Mahmud Sa’o, Lamurde – Bulus Daniel, Madagali – Simon Musa Shashi, Maiha – Abubakar Mustapha, Mayo – Belwa Umar Nashong, Michika – Dan Biyu Paul Tumba, Mubi North – Musa Hassan, Mubi South – Hamidu A Jingi and Numan – Innocent Koto.

The rest are Shelleng -Abubakar Musa Abba, Song – Idris Yahaya, Toungo – Sulaiman Gangkuba, Yola   North – Jibril Ibrahim and Yola South – Salihu Usman Malkohi.

The chairman of the Delta State Electoral Commission, Dr. Jerry Agbaike, said one of PDP candidates was returned unopposed.

He said PDP candidates contested against other parties and emerged winners in the 24 local government areas where the elections were conducted. However, there were no election in the Udu Local Government Area as the chairmanship candidate of the PDP, Vincent Oyibode, returned unopposed.

The 25 elected chairmen would be sworn in on Monday, July 15, 2024 by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
