The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) holds its 102nd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting today in Abuja, with possible disciplinary action against FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and former Benue governor Samuel Ortom on the agenda.
The party’s disciplinary committee, led by Tom Ikimi, has submitted its report to the National Working Committee (NWC), recommending sanctions for members accused of anti-party activities in the last elections.
The NEC is also expected to consider preparations for the November 15–16 national convention in Ibadan and the zoning committee’s report on sharing party positions.
While many PDP leaders back the Ibadan venue, Wike has opposed it, alleging his camp was sidelined. He has also demanded recognition of the South-South zonal congress conducted by his allies, which the NWC rejected.
PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi, however, assured that the meeting will be “peaceful and productive.”
