Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have gathered in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, to discuss key issues facing the party and the nation. The meeting, which began on Sunday, saw the governors hosted to a state banquet by the host Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
The governors in attendance include Bala Muhammed of Bauchi (Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum), Caleb Muftwang of Plateau, Ahmadu Umar Fintiri of Adamawa, Agbu Kefas of Taraba, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Peter Mbah of Enugu, and Ademola Adeleke of Osun. However, Rivers State’s suspended Governor, Sim Fubara, was notably absent, along with Delta State’s Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori.
Key topics on the agenda include the ongoing state of emergency in Rivers State, ahead of a Supreme Court hearing, and discussions on a proposed coalition to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). Governor Makinde emphasized the importance of the meeting, stating that it is essential for repositioning the PDP as the best choice for Nigerians in the 2027 elections.
