The Senate has rejected calls for a part-time legislature, warning it could weaken Nigeria’s democracy.
Senate spokesperson Yemi Adaramodu said lawmakers do more than make laws — they represent and serve their constituents directly.
“If parliament is on part-time, then democracy is on part-time,” he said during a TV interview, stressing that no thriving democracy sidelines its legislature.
