Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have allegedly killed more than 40 farmers in an attack on Kayakura village in Kukawa Local Government Area, Borno State. The incident, which reportedly occurred around 4:30 PM on Sunday, left several others missing.

Local sources indicated that the assailants stormed the farming community in Doron Baga ward, firing sporadically as they attacked residents. “As we speak, many people are still missing, and more than 40 farmers were killed—most of them fleeing attacks from Gwoza Local Government Area,” a witness disclosed.

This assault comes just a day after another attack in Chibok, in southern Borno, where two people were killed and a church set ablaze.

Conflicting reports have emerged regarding the exact death toll. A security official in the area placed the number of casualties at 30. “Thirty people lost their lives during the attack on farmers in the Doron Baga area,” the source confirmed.

Efforts to reach Borno State Police Public Relations Officer ASP Kenneth Daso for comments were unsuccessful, as his phone line was not reachable at press time.
