Over 100 people, mostly displaced villagers, were feared killed on Saturday after gunmen attacked Yelewata in Benue’s Guma LGA. Witnesses said the assailants stormed the community around midnight, setting shelters on fire and killing families in their sleep.
In a separate incident, two soldiers were also killed in nearby Daudu while responding to another attack. Police said reinforcements were deployed and some attackers were neutralised, but the death toll may rise as search efforts continue.
