Dozens of passengers were stranded at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 in Lagos on Wednesday after a confrontation between Senator Adams Oshiomhole and Air Peace.
The senator arrived around 6:10 a.m. for a 6:30 a.m. flight to Abuja but was denied boarding. Witnesses say he reacted by blocking the terminal entrance, preventing others from going in. A video making the rounds shows him confronting airline staff at the gate.
Air Peace later issued a statement accusing Oshiomhole of assaulting staff and shutting the terminal gate. They said the flight had already closed boarding when he arrived.
But the senator denied any disruption. He said he had checked in online and arrived early enough, but was turned back while others were allowed to board. He also accused the airline of selling fresh tickets on the spot at inflated prices, calling the act “extortion.”
Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo has waded into the matter. The NCAA confirmed it is investigating both sides of the incident.
