Former President Olusegun Obasanjo recounted a personal lesson in leadership during a gathering at his Presidential Library in Abeokuta.
Speaking with Dayo Israel, the newly appointed board chairman of the Federal Medical Centre, Obasanjo shared that when his daughter joined his farm for work experience, she arrived at 7:15 a.m.—15 minutes past the required start time.
Despite an initial warning, she repeated the lateness the following day.
“I had no choice but to send her home right from the gate,” he said, emphasizing that the move was meant to set a firm example for all his employees.
Obasanjo stressed that tough decisions are essential for effective leadership and advised Israel to be resolute when addressing workplace challenges.
