The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) has suspended its nationwide warning strike after reaching an agreement with the federal government.
The union confirmed the decision in a circular signed by its president, Haruna Mamman, and secretary, T.A. Shettima.
The strike, which began Wednesday, disrupted services in federal hospitals over issues like poor pay, staff shortages, and unsafe work conditions.
After a meeting with key government stakeholders, NANNM said it was satisfied with the timelines given for addressing its nine demands and urged members to resume duty immediately.
The union warned against any form of victimisation and promised to monitor the government’s compliance with the agreement.
