A man has been arrested for allegedly carrying a firearm on church premises in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The arrest was confirmed on Monday by the spokesperson of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the state, ASP NR Rimvyok. He told Trust TV that the incident is still under investigation, and full details will be shared once the inquiry is concluded.
“Yes, the arrest was made by our operatives. But for now, there’s nothing more to report until the investigation is complete,” Rimvyok said during a phone interview.
The arrest reportedly took place on Sunday around 8:30 a.m., during a routine patrol by NSCDC officers near the church.
The incident comes amid rising insecurity in the area. Between March 28 and April 2, over 70 people were killed in a series of attacks across five communities in Bokkos and Bassa LGAs.
The suspect has been transferred to the NSCDC headquarters in Jos for further investigation.
