Northern traditional rulers, led by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, have condemned the ongoing killings across the region, declaring that “enough is enough.” Speaking at the 7th Executive Committee Meeting of the Northern Traditional Rulers Council in Maiduguri, the Sultan called for urgent action from political leaders to address the insecurity affecting the North.
“We cannot sit by as innocent people are killed. It is time for decisive action,” the Sultan stated, urging unity among political, traditional, and religious leaders.
Governor Zulum of Borno State emphasised the importance of empowering youth to prevent radicalisation, while the Inspector General of Police assured collaboration between security agencies and traditional rulers.
Despite challenges, including the resurgence of Boko Haram in Borno, leaders remain hopeful that working together will restore peace.
