The European Union (EU) has announced a €150 billion investment under its Global Gateway initiative to boost infrastructure development in Nigeria and other African nations over the next four years.
The initiative aims to enhance connectivity in transport, energy, and digital networks, while also supporting agriculture, health, education, and economic growth. Speaking in Lagos, Massimo De Luca, Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, emphasized the EU’s commitment to fostering sustainable development and stronger economic ties with its partners.
He noted that from 2021 to 2024, the EU allocated €700 million to Nigeria alone and remains the country’s largest donor. The Global Gateway, part of a €300 billion global fund, prioritizes Africa, Latin America, and Asia.
