The Disciples of Jagaban, a support group for President Bola Tinubu, has backed the planned national prayers to seek divine intervention for Nigeria’s economic challenges. Organized by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, the initiative has drawn mixed reactions, including skepticism from former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Adegoke Alawuje, the group’s National Coordinator, emphasized that Nigeria’s economic hurdles require divine assistance, praising President Tinubu’s policies as essential steps towards stability. He also highlighted Tinubu’s accomplishment in reducing the debt service-to-revenue ratio by 32% in 17 months, urging Nigerians to recognize the president’s efforts.
Alawuje compared the president to a compassionate doctor, administering painful but necessary remedies for national recovery, and called for collective prayers to support these efforts.
