Niger State Governor, Umaru Mohammed Bago, has imposed a 6pm to 6am curfew on Minna, the state capital, following a recent spike in attacks and killings.
The curfew affects the movement of commercial motorcycles and tricycles, with exceptions only for medical emergencies.
Bago announced the measure during a security meeting with traditional leaders and heads of security agencies on Tuesday.
He also ordered local chiefs to begin proper documentation of visitors in their areas and warned that houses harbouring criminals or drug dealers would be demolished.
The state capital has recently witnessed a rise in violent crimes, stirring fear among residents.
