NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd) has expressed concern over the rising drug abuse crisis in Nigeria, revealing that 3 million people in the Northwest are affected, with Kano having the highest number of users.

Speaking at an anti-drug campaign in Kaduna, he noted that 14.3 million Nigerians aged 15-64 use psychoactive substances, with one in four being female.

Marwa highlighted NDLEA’s crackdown, including 57,792 arrests and nearly 10 million kg of drugs seized in four years.

NOA DG Lanre Issa-Onilu urged community leaders to help tackle the crisis, while House Speaker Abbas Tajudeen raised concerns over increasing domestic violence cases, particularly in Kano, Kaduna, and Sokoto.
