The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested 49 people in Kano over alleged drug trafficking and abuse.
The arrests followed coordinated raids on several hotspots on August 7 and 8.
State NDLEA spokesperson, Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, said the operation targeted areas notorious for drug activities.
The locations included Massallacin Idi, Fagge Plaza, Kofar Mata, Kofar Wambai, Kofar Dan’agundi, Makabartar Dan’agundi, Ladanai, Zage, and Rimi Market.
The agency also stormed Kano Line and Tashar Rami motor parks in Na’ibawa, where several suspects were picked up.
Recovered items included cannabis, codeine syrup, diazepam, Rohypnol, Pregabalin, “suck and die,” rubber solution, and locally made weapons.
Muhammad-Maigatari said the raids were part of NDLEA’s ongoing crackdown on drug crimes in the state.
