The National Assembly Joint Committee on Finance has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to federal government agencies, including the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), NIMASA, and FIRS, for failing to appear for the 2025 budget defence.
Committee Chairman Senator Sani Musa warned that agencies neglecting the directive risk zero budget allocation. He emphasized that President Tinubu had mandated agency heads to defend their budgets responsibly.
“If they fail to appear, we will recommend withholding their funds,” Musa stated, with House Finance Chair Rep. James Faleke stressing the need to boost revenue and curb borrowing.
