The Nasarawa state police command has announced the arrest of two-armed robbery suspects allegedly terrorizing the state.
The suspects, 52-year-old Chibuize Orji and 45 years old Jibrin Mohammed were arrested by the Angwan Lambu division in Keffi local government area of the state.
In a statement by the command public relations officer, Ramhan Nansel, the suspects usually pose as taxi drivers to pick unsuspecting passengers, drive away to unknown destinations, and dispossess them of money and other belongings, after which the victims are abandoned
The PPRO explained that the suspects have confessed to the commission of the crime as they have admitted been operating for over 10 years where many have been and robbed by them.
The statement read; “Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects usually pose as taxi drivers to pick unsuspecting passengers, drive away to unknown destinations, and dispossess them of money and other belongings, after which the victims are abandoned while they take to flight”.
“The suspects have confessed to the commission of the crime and said they have been operating for over 10yrs and robbed a lot of people. They further stated that they were recently released from Shendam prison, Plateau State, for similar offence after serving their prison term.
“Items recovered from the suspects include a Toyota carina II vehicle with registration number Abuja CO 212 ABC, one Axe and Hammer”.
He further noted stated that the suspects were recently released from Shendam correctional service centre in plateau for similar offence.
While assuring members of the public that the Command would not relent in its fight against crime in the State, the Nasarawa state Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada who solicited for collaborations with residents, also ordered that the suspects be charged to court for prosecution upon conclusion of investigation.
