Minimum Wage: Senate Grants ₦70,000 Wage Bill Accelerated Passage

The senate on Tuesday passed for the first, second and third reading, A Bill for an Act to Amend the National Minimum Wage Act, 2019 to increase the National Minimum Wage and reduce the time for periodic review of the national minimum wage from five years to three years and for related matters, 2024.

The Executive bill which enjoyed an accelerated passage at the resumption of senate plenary on Tuesday followed a letter from president Bola Ahmed Tinubu who appealed for its swift passage to enable the federal government fulfill its own side of the bargain to Nigerians and the organized labor to increase the minimum wage from the current thirty thousand Naira to seventy thousand naira.
