An aircraft reportedly belonging to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) crashed on Monday morning in Tami village of Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, close to the headquarters of the Nigerian Airforce Air Training Centre, Mando.
Residents of the community say they were alerted to the crash when they heard a loud, crashing sound in the early hours of the day, at about 5am, local time.
“A team of military officers from the Nigerian Air Force swiftly arrived at the scene to secure the area and conduct an initial investigation.”
“They cordoned off the crash site to prevent unauthorized access and to ensure the safety of the villagers. The officers also began preliminary assessments to determine the cause of the crash, which remains unknown at this time,” a resident said.
Reports say the pilot survived as he was seen exiting the wreckage.
The Air Force is yet to make an official announcement at the time of filing this report.
