Troops of the Nigerian Air Force have eliminated numerous terrorists who were obstructing repair work on the Shiroro-Kaduna transmission line. The terrorists, operating near the critical infrastructure, were neutralized on Friday through coordinated airstrikes aimed at protecting electricity workers tasked with restoring power.
The situation unfolded following an extended blackout across 17 northern states, which persisted for over a week after key electricity towers were sabotaged. In response, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu directed the National Security Adviser, Minister of Defence, and the Service Chiefs to deploy military support for the workers undertaking essential repairs to the damaged power infrastructure.
Providing an update on Monday night, Nigerian Air Force spokesman Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa confirmed that intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations had identified terrorist fighters converging in the area. The terrorists, allegedly preparing to further disrupt the restoration efforts, were swiftly engaged, resulting in the neutralization of several individuals involved.
