Manchester United Academy graduate and England international, Mason Greenwood has finally ended speculations about his future by signing for French Ligue 1 side, Olmpique Marseille. Greenwood has not made an appearance for his former parent club, United after allegations of rape and assault were made against him. The winger spent last season on loan at Spanish La Liga side, Getafe, where played 36 times, scoring 10 goals and providing 6 assists.

Greenwood’s new home is already fraught with a bit of controversy as the Mayor of Marseille voiced criticism of the move when it was first rumoured.

Manchester United, however, wished Greenwood well on their website, and they also reportedly included a sizeable sell-on clause in their deal with Marseille.

Marseille face Sunderland in a pre-season friendly on 3 August at Bradford City’s Valley Parade, with the Stadium of Light unavailable because of renovation work which could be Greenwood’s first match back in England since he was arrested.
