Famous skit creator Mark Angel has detailed the devastating financial setbacks he faced in 2024, including the loss of $3.7 million to forex trading and the repossession of his properties by loan sharks. Sharing his experience in a heartfelt Instagram post on Sunday, the comedian described the year as one of profound loss and transformation.
“The year 2024 started like any other, filled with plans and expectations. Little did I know it would turn out to be the most challenging year of my life,” Mark Angel wrote. “I made a grave mistake by placing my trust in the wrong hands in forex trading. The result? Everything I had worked so hard for vanished.”
He explained how the massive financial loss spiralled into further complications, leaving him overwhelmed by debts and stripped of his assets. “Losing over $3.7 million was suffocating. Debt piled up, and one by one, my properties were taken by loan sharks. It felt as though my entire world was falling apart. At my lowest point, I even considered giving up on life,” he revealed.
Despite the hardships, Mark Angel credited his survival to the unwavering support of a few individuals and his faith in God. “God’s mercy was my saving grace. At a time when I had nothing left, He sent angels to uplift me,” he said. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to his family and close allies, including his ex-wife Mandy, his children Victoria and Mila, and a close friend, Blessing, who stood by him when others disappeared.
“My daughters reminded me of life’s beauty when it seemed unbearable. My son showed incredible strength for his age, and my ex-wife extended a kindness I will never forget. My pastor and his wife guided and prayed with me, while Bright, my social media assistant, became a rock of support during my darkest days.”
The comedian also spoke of another blow—a career-threatening scandal that tested his relationships and further strained his resilience. “Just when I thought I was regaining my footing, a scandal erupted, shaking my career to its core. It was in this storm that God revealed the truth, exposing fake friends and those secretly sabotaging my peace,” he said.
Mark Angel reflected on the painful yet necessary lessons he learned during this period. “2024 broke me, but it also reshaped me. It brought me closer to God, taught me resilience, and reminded me of His grace. I’m alive today because of His unwavering faithfulness and the love of those who truly cared.”
Concluding his message, the skit maker encouraged others to hold on to hope, even in their darkest moments. “Through every valley, His light never stops shining.
