The Kano State Fire Service has rescued a 40-year-old man and his cow after they became trapped in an old well at Sabon Ruwa Village in Makoda Local Government Area of Kano State.
The Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, said the incident occured at about 3:22pm on wednesday and their emergency response unit from the Danbatta received a distress report about the incident.
He said Ibrahim Jibrin personally visited the fire station to report that a five-year-old cow had fallen into an old well in the village.
According to him, the cow’s owner, Badamasi Ibrahim, attempted to enter the well to rescue the animal but became trapped and was unable to climb out.
“Our personnel immediately rushed to the scene and successfully rescued both the man and the cow alive,” Abdullahi said
He added that the man experienced breathing difficulties while trapped inside the well.
The Director of the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Sani Anas, appealed to members of the public to avoid entering or diving into wells, warning that such actions could lead to serious injuries or death.
He urged residents to contact the fire service or other emergency responders promptly whenever such incidents occur.
