One Terkaa Akishi, age 36, has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for stealing two Qurans and a mobile phone from a Mosque in the Asokoro area of Abuja.
A Grade 1 Area Court sitting at Lugbe, Abuja, on Tuesday, sentenced the labourer to jail after he pleaded guilty to the charges but was given an option of ₦40,000 fine.
The prosecutor, Mr. Emeka Ezeganya, argued that the case was initially reported at the Asokoro Police Station by one Mr. Isah Balikisu of Guards Brigade, Nigeria Army, Asokoro, Abuja, on March 14th, 2024.
He accused the suspect of trespassing and theft but added that the items were recovered from Akishi during police investigation.
The prosecutor said that the value of the stolen items had yet to be ascertained.
