The Chairman of Lafia Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, Maifata Aminu Mu’azu, has been elected president of the Association of Local Government Nigeria (ALGON)
The spokesman of the association, Obiora Orji, confirmed that Mu’azu was elected last Thursday by the National Executive Council committee.
Mu’azu had previously served as treasurer of the association and was, untill this election, the vice president.
Reacting to his election, governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, expressed optimism that his emergence will spur development at the third tier of government in the country.
In a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Ibrahim Addra, the governor described Mua’zu’s emergence as the national president as a classic case of “whom the cap fits.”
