An Air India flight headed to London crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad on Wednesday evening, killing all 242 people on board.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, flight AI171, plunged into an unfinished building near the airport and caught fire, according to officials. Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud bang before seeing smoke and flames.

Rescue efforts began immediately, but no survivors have been found. The crash also damaged several nearby vehicles.

India’s Aviation Minister, Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, said he was “shocked and devastated,” and assured that emergency agencies are responding swiftly.

Flights from Ahmedabad have been suspended, and investigations are ongoing.
